From our Founder

MISS LELA G. McConnell, founder and first president of the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association, said:

Mt. Carmel became known far and wide through the students’ reports of our kind, yet firm discipline. Sanctified teachers with warm hearts and well-trained heads will turn out excellent young people. We were running not just an “A grade” high school, but one where hungry-hearted young people could find God and truly become established in His will and plan for their lives. (emphasis added)

Senior Skip Day

Shared by Sara Nero

IF IT WASN’T the wild roller coasters, it was the wails of the scared passengers around me that spiked my blood pressure. I believe my favorite ride was the invertago; it twisted and turned upside down and to the side. My friend Lucy who is also a senior told me how much she really disliked me while upside down, which is a memory I will never forget. I loved spending a little bit too much money on the games at King’s Island but I came out with a decent prize in the end. Adam (one of our senior sponsors), Jake, and Jordan, played a basketball game, Jake coming out with a small prize, Jordan with a small and medium prize, and Adam with a hearty grin. This made for a good start to our afternoon. But our fun was rained out and the park rides were closed on and off the rest of the day. But not to worry, we still had our appetites, which were fed at Golden Corral. We went back to the park with stuffed bellies in attempt for one more ride but were disappointed to find it shut down. But driving home we saw the fireworks from the park which was a great close to our senior trip.

Come aboard, matey!

WE THINK WE MADE HISTORY tonight. The Junior-Senior Banquet was help upstairs in the old warehouse!  Yep, you heard me right. It was decorated as a pirate ship, and the Juniors did a fantastic job!  It was a special and memorable way to honor the Seniors. Click on a picture to see it full size.

Seniors raise funds and lift hopes

LEAVE IT TO the seniors to come up with an idea like this:  combine a fundraiser and an opportunity to minister.  On Wednesday afternoon, April 25, several of the seniors went to the Lafayette Mall and handed out tracts.  They had lined up sponsors who would pay them for each track hand-delivered to a real person. (Mannequins don’t count!) :-)  Participating seniors included Sarah Nero, Lucianna Pupu, Ivan Jang, Jake Kirk, Seungwon Lee, and Jordan Dunn, and they distributed about 75 tracts that afternoon.

Good for you, seniors!
