Elementary students visit Camp Nathanael

Written by Admin on . Posted in Activities

ON OCTOBER 6, the elementary went on a field trip to Camp Nathanael. It was called “Celebrating Climate and Seasons… Delightful Diversity.” We went to different workshops that represented different countries and they told us what the weather was like at that time of year. Some of the places we learned about were Africa, Asia, Europe, Costa Rica, and the Polar lands. The students got to buy souvenirs like sombreros and other international items. They had fun walking over the swinging bridge. They really enjoyed themselves!

Christmas on the Mountain

THE MT. CARMEL Former Students Association (FSA) continued a history of excellence with the 2011 Christmas on the Mountain! Many, many thanks to our former students who sent in contributions and who spent hours and hours of time preparing the feast. The food was phenomenal! (The pictures of food below show only the desserts table. You should have seen the appetizers and main course table!) It was great to have James Neihof to emcee the event. The decorations were gorgeous. Everything was top-rate!

To all who made this possible, thank you so much and God bless you!

Ongoing Fundraisers

MT. CARMEL elementary school is engaged in several ongoing fundraisers. We want to make sure you are aware of them. Our students and their families work hard to continue to raise funds for the school. Perhaps you’d like to participate. It’s easy and doesn’t cost you anything extra. We participate in the following fundraising programs:

  • Campbell’s Soup labels: They need the UPC or the “education” label from the product container.
  • Our Family labels: They need the UPC from anything that is Our Family brand.
  • Boxtops for Education: These are little rectangles on many, many products that ear the school $0.10 to $0.20 per label. They are on cereal boxes, Betty Crocker products, Kleenex, Ziploc bags, and many other things.
  • Recycling printer cartridges: We get points for inkjet and laser printer cartridges that we send postage paid to Funding Factory. Normally, when we have 3500 points, we cash them in for $1400. Over the years we have raised $4200 with this. These funds are used for updating computers and accessories for the school.

I Feel Good!

ON FRIDAY, December 9, the High School students had their Christmas party.  The cooks turned out excellent tacos! And peanut butter fudge for dessert!

Several students provided music for us. The students from PNG sang a couple of songs in their native language(s), and a quartet of our Korean students sang “I Feel Good.”  All the music was great. Thanks, guys, for your willingness to share with us!

The evening ended with the exchange of gifts. Lots of fun all around.

High School Christmas program

ON SUNDAY, December 4, the high school choir presented their Christmas program, Glory in the Highest. It was beautifully done! And what a wonderful message – the true meaning of Christmas – God and sinners reconciled!

Highlights included beautiful renditions of “Be Glorified in Me” and “Glorious Day.” Soloists included Brianna Shuck, Adrianna Gabbard, Sungmin Lee, Stacey Wendi, Solomon Kewanu, Justin Moon, Sooyang Song and Seungwon Lee.

Thank you, students, for leading us in worship of Christ, the Savior! We are proud of you and your accomplishments.
